I'm the kind of person who finds the neurotic adorable and you try so hard
But you only end up scared of the things that they are

Everybody knows that "safe and steady" is the motto of the beta pair
Try to play the card with your best lines falling on deaf ears or the cutting room floor
Try to oversell your adventures to someone who was there

It's a one way street when you're disposable

He gets snappy dialogue, the cribbed opinions flattering half truths, like I did in the day
Now I get a to do list and the 20 minute tale of a headache
Watch her as she's sliding down a hill in her unwise high heels, mud soaked and carefree
Think of the filth she'd have flung if she'd have been there with me

When you're out you're out and they'll redeem themself for someone else
When you're in you're in and every word you say is genius

So bullet dodged the whole time just a bit part in a subplot of a potboiler, trite as they come

Because I'd be the one who's left receding on the travellator impotent, enraged and alone.
